Equestrian Sport Productions' Goal is to Raise $1 Million For Show Jumping Relay Race on February 19, 2011, Presented by Fidelity Investments® Wellington, FL – January 25, 2011 - The first annual FTI Great Charity Challenge galloped out of the gates in 2010 with huge momentum, raising over $560,000 for 24 non-profit charities. The success of the inaugural event inspired Equestrian Sport Productions to set a fundraising goal of $1 million for the 2011 event, presented by Fidelity Investments® The Great Charity Challenge is a relay style jumping competition that is scheduled to take place at 6:00 p.m. on February 19, 2011 in the International Arena at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida. Thirty relay teams will be formed, consisting of two junior/amateur riders and one professional rider. Each equestrian team is assigned a charity to represent, and the charity matched with the winning team will win over $100,000! The international non-profit group Step by Step Foundation Inc. took home the blue ribbon and $150,000 winning check in 2010, and was represented by the equestrian team of Christina Kelly, Jennifer Waxman, and Olympian Margie Engle. Liliane Stransky, the President of the charity and generous sponsor of the team of speedsters, donated the funds to Haitian relief efforts and to help complete the building of the Tipa Tipa Elementary school in Lahaie. Stransky hopes history during the 2011 competition, and if her team wins, plans on donating the funds to Haiti to help stop the spread of Cholera. This unique show jumping event allows amateur and junior riders the thrill of a lifetime to compete side by side with Olympic champions under the lights in the prestigious International Arena for a hopeful $1 million in prize money. The 2011 event will benefit 30 charities, all of which serve Palm Beach County, which will all receive a portion of the total money raised. The Step by Step Foundation and the YMCA of the Palm Beaches qualified based on their outstanding t-shirt and ticket sales, respectively, from the 2010 event. The Wellington Community Foundation was pre-selected based on the initiative to act as a representative for Wellington non-profit charities. Finally, Home Safe was pre-selected at the discretion of the Great Charity Challenge directors to remain in accordance with the theme of “family.” The event will also host the Equestrian Aid Foundation Carnival, where children can enjoy carnival games, a dunk tank, a moon bounce, and more. In the true spirit of giving, the EAF will contribute half of the proceeds received from the Carnival to the total prize money awarded to the 30 charities participating in the GCC. The other half of the proceeds will be contributed to the Equestrian Aid Foundation.
