Jan. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- The Papatek Compaq Presario CQ60 216g keyboard [ http://www.papatek.com/Compaq-Keyboard/13563.html ] is a simple black keyboard with unique, quiet switches underneath the keys that minimize the familiar clacking sound of other mechanical keyboards. Passionate, well-off typists interested in accommodating their neighbors might have some interest in this decent input device. Typing is pleasant on the wide keyboard and the key travel is good and affords both speed and accuracy.

I own an Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop and the keyboard finally conked out when the backspace key fell off. Then I ordered one from Papatek [ http://www.papatek.com/Compaq-Keyboard/13563.html ]  a couple of weeks ago and received in just a few days. The package came in the nice wrapper/cardboard and is extremely light and delicate. Please take care when handling it outside of the box.

Removal and Replacement in the CQ60 laptop was easy. Shut down the computer and unplug the power cord. Then opening the battery cover and removing the batter. Next, you look for the 3 larger screws (not the tinier ones as the deepest part of the battery well. Unscrew those - They are tricky to get out - use a magnetic screwdriver to pull them out.)

Then, the ribbon cable must be undone. Two tabs on either side of the keyboard do the job of holding the ribbon into the connector. Pull these forward gently and they will unclamp the ribbon.

You are now ready to remove the entire keyboard. Set the old one aside and now put in the new one in reverse order. Please be careful when sliding the ribbon into the holder and then carefully pop the white tabs on either side of the keyboard.

Once it is hooked up, power on the laptop to check that you got it right. If the keyboard works and the ribbon is snugly tightened, then go ahead and gently snap the keyboard down into the keyboard well and then flip the unit so that batter compartment is now facing you. Put in the 3 screws to lock the keyboard in place. Do NOT over-tighten the screws.

Remember - take care and go slow. Be safe and have the power off to the laptop before you work on it. It is a good idea to keep the older keyboard for it's extra parts and keys, should you need it.
