Author Event Combines Black History Month and Red Shoes

Best-Selling Author Marian L. Thomas will host her first book launch event called "Get Your Red Shoes On" at the Atlanta Marriott. Her event will also be participating in the 2011 National African American Read-In.

Jan. 31, 2011 - PRLog -- The Atlanta Marriott in Norcross, GA will be the launch site for the event, Get Your Red Shoes On, hosted by Best-Selling Author Marian L. Thomas on 02.20.2011. An estimated 40-50 ladies will arrive, each with a "fab" pair of red shoes on and will not only receive a copy of Marian's new book,  My Father's Colors-The Drama-Filled Journey of Naya Monà  Continues, but also a fabulous 3-course seated dinner. "The evening will be filled with a night of  live entertainment provided by R&B Artist, Jason Pure, games and lots of red shoe Fun", states the author. The theme for this event— red shoes, is inspired by the pair of red shoes seen on the cover of My Father's Colors.  

My Father's Colors is a second release for the author. Her debut title, Color Me Jazzmyne reached #1  in the Rhythm & Blues category on Amazon.com Best-Seller list . It was also awarded as being one of the "Top 100 Books" by Sankofa Literary Society Review and was nominated for the "2010 Book of the Year" by AAMBC.

Similar in nature to the heart of Color Me Jazzmyne, My Father's Colors is both contemporary fiction and  literary entertainment that focusing on character and plot development. It is also poetic and derives its inspiration from the real life experiences that many woman and children of abuse continue to face. It is emotional, captivating and sparked with the elements of reality to make a true reader connection.

While the "Get Your Red Shoes On" event is sure to be a night filled with fabulous red shoes and entertainment, it will also be participating in the 2011 National African American Read-In. A project that is sponsored by the NCTE in honor of Black History Month.
Marian will be submitting her 2011 African America Read-In Report Card on February 20, 2011.

About the Author:
Marian L. Thomas graduated Magna Cum Laude, receiving her Bachelor degree in Business Communication. She began her writing debut as a Sports Editor and as a News Editor for a local Atlanta college paper. While Marian’s books  are a work of fiction, they touch on the struggles of women, abuse, relationships and friendships, giving each one a hint of reality that readers are looking for in a good story.
