Amare Stoudemire: All-Star starter

Stoudemire beats Garnett in the all-star starters votes leading him to play alongside of superstars such as Lebron James and Dwyane Wade at the 2011 NBA All-Star game. Will Rivers lead them to victory?

Feb. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Amare Stoudemire was voted all-star starter for the 2011 NBA’s 60th All-star game on February 20th at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. This will be the 5th time an All-star game is hosted by LA and the 2nd time held at the Staples Center. Stoudemire has played a big role in making New Yorkers proud again this season after a decade of the Knicks' plummeted reputation. He has led the Knicks to a record of 25-23 and he's the second-leading scorer in the NBA. Stoudemire received 1,674,995 votes helping him beat Kevin Garnett, from the Boston Celtics, who received 1,407,601 votes. He is the first New York knickerbocker voted into the starting lineup for the All-Star Game since Patrick Ewing in 1992, and this will be his 6th All-Star overall appearance.
Stoudemire will be playing forward alongside Lebron James for the Eastern Conference starters. Also part of the eastern starters will be Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, and Dwyane Wade. As for the Western Conference starters, we got Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, and Yao Ming (who’s injured and will be replaced). Doc Rivers, the Boston Celtics coach, has been chosen to coach the eastern Conference All-stars this February. The Celtics hold the eastern leading record of 37-11, so the choice is just right. Going by the same logic, the Western Conference All-stars will be coached by Gregg Popovich, the San Antonio Spurs’ coach, who has lead the team to the leading position of 40-8! Fans may have chosen the starters stars, but the coaches get to pick the reserves making up an all-star game of 24 of the most talented players. So, who will win? The East or the West?
Last year’s All-star game in Dallas, which held a world record crowd of 108,713, was won by the East. Who are the stars that caught your attention this season? If you haven’t decided who your favorite All-star players are, there’s still some time left before the game.
