Follow on Google News | Singles at Valentine's Day, claim your part of the romantic holiday: host a partySingles, host a party over the Valentine's weekend, urges Jacquee T, the voice behind 'A Romantic's Perspective' (.com). She offers inspiration, and party theme ideas.
By: Detour Productions, LLC A Singles Affair The concept is simple, she says. One person, or a group of people -- all single and unattached -- host it. They require their single friends to attend. Those friends invite their single friends. The result is a nice, mixed crowd. A "Mixer" Theme As the host or hostess, take charge with a theme designed to get folks mingling, Jacquee T. says. "Give it a Valentine's, or romantic theme." The themes may be simple. Here are a few suggestions she offers: ------"The Red Party." Guests are asked to wear something red. Have on hand red accessories to lend, like ribbons or ties. Feature 'Red' beverages, like red wine, red beer, a red martini, cranberry juice. Appetizers feature "Red," like peppers, radishes, red wine jelly to top cheese and crackers, and strawberries. ------"Flirtation Festival" Hearts rule the flirtation -- paper hearts, hung from the ceiling like mistletoe at Christmas. Offer pink heart nametags for the ladies, red heart nametags for the fellas. Strew paper pink and red hearts strewn throughout tabletops and counter tops -- guests lift them to see a conversation topic, like "Favorite movie ever," or "Favorite sports team." ------"Dress for Valentine's Day" Have a dress code, like "Red Tie" or "Cocktail." Guests dressed in formal or semi-formal attire will add elegance to the atmosphere. Singles romance "Singles are romantic, too," says Jacquee T. "They have a right to the Valentine's 'Romantic Holiday' like everyone else." By attending a Valentine's Singles mixer, they may celebrate their romantic side.
