Lazar Ilic, Austin, TX Mathworks administers the qualifying test to help select the four team members, as well as identify promising applicants for the residential Junior Summer Math Camp (JSMC) held at Texas State University. More than 540 students from across Texas took the qualifying test this year, with 33% scoring 1 or higher out of 15. The team members will be participants in the 2011 residential JSMC, and then travel to Hong Kong for the PMWC, to be held July 12-17. In eight years of attendance in the PMWC, the Texas team fielded by Mathworks has been awarded the Po Leung Kuk Cup six times (top non-Asian team), as well as tying for first place overall in 2008. # # # About Mathworks Mathworks is a center for mathematics education at Texas State University - San Marcos with core pillars of summer math programs for K-12 students, teacher training, and math curriculum development.
