Follow on Google News | Vhong, Angelica deliver laughs, swoons and scares in “Bulong”Star Cinema's unique Valentine's Day offering from the master of horror Chito Rono will be screened in 6 U.S. cities starting Feb 11
By: Nerissa M. Fernandez Star Cinema makes a daring move this Valentine’s Day 2011 by offering, Bulong (Whisper), a horror film that is kind to the romantic at heart. Starring the Philippines’ Bulong revolves around the Filipino superstitious belief that whispering one’s wish into the ears of a dead person will help make one’s wish come true. Conan (Vhong) tries this mantra, being desperate for Ellen’s (Bangs Garcia) love. He whispers to a dead lady his heartache - how he wishes Ellen to love him back. After days of waiting, Conan observes that something unusual is happening: Ellen is now noticing him, giving him more than the attention he wants. In fact, Ellen is now obsessed with him, throwing herself at him. This makes Conan uncomfortable and scared. But Ellen’s giving him special attention is not the only unusual thing Conan notices: something eerie has been happening to him, giving him the chills, especially when he’s alone. At first he tries to disregard it, until he realizes that the spirit haunting him is the spirit of the old lady he whispered his wish to. Conan seeks the help of his friend, Oprah (Angelica), who takes him to her aunt, Madam Kara, an expert in black magic. As they travel together, Conan and Oprah’s feelings for each other awaken. But this makes the haunting worse, and Conan begins to feel guilty as the spirit starts to disturb Oprah, too. Will the budding lovers be able to overcome the evil that has befallen them? And what about Ellen now? “Many say that the key to a good romance is keeping the relationship fresh.
