Follow on Google News | Experts Launch Uk’s First Colour Education CourseTwo day course shows the graphics, print, paint and plastics industries how to evaluate importance of colour
By: Richard Swancott Precision instrumentation specialists Konica Minolta Sensing Europe are collaborating with Sue Williams, former President of the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC), and founder member and director of Instrumental Colour Systems – the first UK-based colour measurement company. They are to run a series of two-day colour courses around the country, beginning with The Manchester Museum on 12th and 13th April 2011. The aim is to educate delegates on ten areas including the importance of colour, best practice for visual assessment, colour mixing, and interpretation of colour difference reports. Konica Minolta Sensing’s UK General Manager Paul Bowman said: “Sue has more than 40 years’ experience in colour measurement, and we’ve manufactured precision colour measuring equipment since 1981, so this is an excellent opportunity for delegates to hear from two industry experts. “We will be covering a wide range of subjects, from colour theory to best colour practice, and each session will feature a demonstration period and an expert panel discussion to deal with any questions from the audience. “We plan to run similar courses around the country to give as many people as possible the chance to take part.” Sue Williams is a chartered colourist and Fellow of the SDC. She has been a member of the society for over 20 years and was awarded their Gold Medal in 2006 for her contribution to the colour measurement industry. Places cost £395 per delegate, and include admission to all sessions, refreshments, dinner with the presentation team, and an overnight stay at a hotel in Manchester.
