By: Dee Stewart of DeeGospel PR Ms. Hickman won the 2008 African American Literary Award for Romance and has sold the exclusive book club rights of both her novels to Black Expressions, a national book club company with a membership of over 450,000. Last year she signed a three book contract with Kensington Publishing Corp. Kensington is the last remaining independent U.S. publisher of hardcover, trade and mass market paperback books, one of the top book publishers in America. Ms. Hickman holds a B.A. from Winston-Salem State University, and an M.A. from Wake Forest University. She currently resides in Washington, DC. During this event Ms. Hickman will share information about some of Lubbock's African American history makers. Our special guest Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of Mrs. Hickman's book “Playing the Hand Your Dealt” will go to the Friends of the Library. Her latest novel Unexpected Interruptions releases April 1, 2010. Mrs. Hickman will be giving away a copy on Lubbock’s 104.9 FM “The Beat” Radio Station today.
