J Bar J Boy’s Receive Visit from Dave Dahl of Dave’s Killer Bread

March 1, 2011 - PRLog -- On Monday Feb. 21, J Bar J Boy’s Ranch was visited by a Dave Dahl from Dave’s Killer Bread in Portland, Oregon. Dave is a reformed ex-convict that has turned his life around..  

Dave explained why he visited J Bar J Boy’s Ranch, “I like to give back to the community, and I really want these youth to understand that they have the power to change and make their life whatever they can dream it to be.  But they have to take responsibility, they can’t blame anyone else.  They need to take charge of their life. I want to support these kinds of programs that help kids turn their lives around.”  

J Bar J Boy’s Ranch offers a comprehensive residential treatment program that focuses on changing delinquent behaviors. During his visit at the J Bar J Boy’s Ranch, Dave explained a little about his past to the boys, then went on to describe being given another chance when he got out of prison to work with his brother in the bakery.  

Dave spent a lot of time trying different approaches for making different kinds of bread.  Sometimes they were wonderful, sometimes he failed, but he kept on trying.  Upon perfecting his recipe, he and his brother went to a Farmers Market in Portland. The quality of Dave''s bread gained notoriety.  People loved his bread, and he knew he had something good going.  

Dave knows that it was through completing his treatment program, hard work, perseverance, the baking knowledge his dad had taught him as a youth, and finally his brother''s offer to come back to the bakery that allowed him  to have his own business.  The boy’s asked a number of questions about baking, about his business, but they were especially interested in hearing how Dave turned his life around.
