Safety has always been an important part of the Hydrex culture, ensuring mobile plant operators get everything they need to be compliant and safe in their work. All operators go through extensive training, which by far exceed any standards set by its peer group and ensures every operator obtains Sentinel certification. Additional bespoke modules on safety critical equipment such as quick hitch operation, Rated Capacity Indicators (RCIs) and communication equipment are also provided. The business also innovates in the field of safety following the introduction of mobile telecoms in machine cabs to improve on-site clarity of instruction, safety and efficiency. Carl D’Ammassa, Chief Executive Officer at Hydrex said: “This programme is a change in approach for our compliance function. We believe we lead the way in our market with the policies, procedures and systems we operate, but all of this is simply working towards our ultimate goal of getting everyone Safely Home.” D’Ammassa continues: “Our customers are looking for suppliers who are seriously committed to safety and we are keen to better communicate how we go above and beyond in this area. By reinforcing the Safely Home message to our own employees we hope to strengthen our safe practices even further. We know people don’t get it right every time but we have a duty to constantly remind them of the training they have received and the importance of improving the safety culture in our industry. This is a key requirement in our modern railway” Delivering smarter and safer ways of working is at the fore-front of Hydrex’s mind, having led the introduction of mobile telecoms in machine cabs to improve on-site safety, improve exclusion zone enforcement and deliver more efficient control of machines and operators. Andy Crago, Safety and Compliance Director comments : “I am excited about the launch of Safely Home. We have for a long time been pushing to improve our own and partner’s safety performance. Safely Home reminds everyone, with one simple message, of the key roles they play in ensuring that they and their colleagues work to the rules and perform their duties with safety in mind. We are extending our safety focus to key elements of our supply chain to ensure that all our partners subscribe to our safety strategy and look to improve standards across the industry”. The company’s management systems have been awarded ISO9001, ISO14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 standard. Hydrex’s commitment to improving standards are demonstrated by its active participation in the ISLG (Infrastructure Safety Liaison Group) and sub-groups RIAG, and RIEF, in addition to the Operations Focus Group (OFG) and Association of Railway Training Providers (ARTP) as well as membership of Construction Plant Association and the Rail Plant Association. # # # Hydrex is a leading provider of Plant Hire Solutions to the Rail, Materials Handling, Waste, and Construction & Engineering industries in the UK, with over 25 years experience of working in partnership with customers.
