Keeping up with Gifted and Accelerated Students!!!

Child Prodigy Mom shares success tips with Parents of Gifted Students!!

March 16, 2011 - PRLog -- ATLANTA, GA - The Wallstreet Journal had reported as early as 2003 that schools adhering to the No Child Left Behind Act has left gifted children under-served in local schools across the country.  In fact it has been commonly believed by educators that children of “high-ability” need less attention in the classroom than that of the average student.  “There are so many misconceptions about gifted children that parents need to meet to gain clarity and the resources needed for our children to begin to express themselves powerfully in education,” asserts Michelle Brown-Stafford, mother of 14 Year-Old College Student, and media sensation Stephen Stafford.

Michelle continues to teach parents a new approach to parental involvement through her dynamic Parents-As-Partners Workshop Series held monthly in Atlanta, Georgia.
March’s workshop will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the beautiful campus of the YMCA of Carver Villages from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The topic will focus on meeting the evolving needs of gifted/accelerated students and moving them forward in academics effectively. Parents will explore the following issues:

how to make the most of a local school’s gifted program
ways to ease boredom in a regular classroom setting
creating a home environment that reinforces the “unique” intellectual and social needs of the gifted/accelerated student
exchanging external resources that parents have found to be successful in producing happily challenged gifted/accelerated students
elements to consider when facing the possibility of early college enrollment

Mrs. Brown-Stafford champions, lectures and teaches parental involvement for a new generation to community/parent groups and has appeared on CNN, Headline News, The Tyra Banks Show, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, NPR as well as other media outlets. Her national workshop tour has now gone global and is slated to add stops in Nassau, Bahamas and London, England.  Admittance is free!
