March 21, 2011 - PRLog -- WCVB TV Channel 5 Anchor Ed Harding, the master of ceremonies for last year’s Employment Options Celebrity Roast, will now take the hot seat himself at the next Employment Options Celebrity Roast. The next Roast is slated for Thursday, June 9.

Ed Harding, a veteran journalist in Boston, will take a barbing from what is expected to be a head table full of Boston-area celebrities and news personalities in this second year of the event. The evening will once again be filled with a variety of humorous videos that will surely leave people laughing long after the event is over.

Employment Options, a recognized leader in providing a variety of crucial services to individuals recovering from mental illness, is once again bringing back the old time celebrity roast. Last year, former State Representative Steve LeDuc took the hot seat and helped the organization raise over $15,000.  The organization hopes to raise even more money this year to help fund programs threatened by potential state budget cuts.

“We are so grateful to have Ed as our next honoree,” states Toni Wolf, executive director of Employment Options. “While we will certainly have a very good time at Ed’s expense, it’s all in good fun and in the spirit of raising money to help fund vital programs for individuals recovering from mental illness.”

The roast will take place Thursday, June 9, at the Best Western in Marlborough. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served starting at 6:30pm with the roast starting at 7:30pm. Tickets will go on sale soon at www.employmentoptions.org/roast.

Dean Martin, whose famous friends pelted him with after dinner insults, is credited with popularizing the celebrity roast in 1970. Cleaned up and sponsored, the event became an NBC-TV series from 1975 to 1984 that featured stars such as Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and Sammy Davis Jr.
