Asante Work Health staff certified as American Lung Association Freedom from Smoking facilitators will help participants quit smoking. They will use the proven techniques developed by the American Lung Association that have helped thousands of smokers quit and stay tobacco-free. “This is the same program that has helped many Asante employees quit smoking, and now we can offer it to the community,” said Gail Anderson, Health Promotion Services, Asante Work Health. Smoking tobacco damages the lungs and causes heart and respiratory diseases. But when someone quits, the lungs can repair themselves and get better. Breath for Life will help participants • Understand their relationship with tobacco • Develop a realistic plan for success • Plan for relapse prevention • Develop healthy lifestyle alternatives • Cope with life as a non-smoker • Develop healthy stress management skills Classes run for seven weeks and meet Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Classes are open to anyone 18 years of age or older.
