World Race 2011 to stop in Effingham

Racers from around the world will stop at Mid America Motorworks on day seven of the World Race 2011

April 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Effingham, Ill. – Participants in the World Race 2011 will take a brief pause in the Indianapolis to St. Louis leg of the race to have lunch at Mid America Motorworks on April 19. Some 26 cars from all over the world will make the 11:30 lunch stop at MY Garage Museum, located on Mid America Motorworks’ corporate campus in Effingham, Ill.

The World Race 2011 begins April 13 at Times Square in New York and follows racers west through the United States, then through Asia and Europe. The Race ends at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on July 21, following the same path as the original Great Auto Race of 1908. The Great Auto Race was seen as an epic test of man and machine that proved the "horseless carriages" could travel long distances. Learn more at www.world-race.net.

Two cars participating in the World Race 2011 are of special interest to Mid America Motorworks' Chief Cheerleader, Mike Yage. Price Team Racing will make history driving their multi-fueled Chevrolet Corvette on six different fuels during the race. At the same time, Ed and Janet Howle will put their 1967 VW Beetle Sedan, Stewball, to the test through 12 countries during the 23,500 mile race.

The lunch stop at MY Garage Museum will occur on day seven of the race, as racers travel from Indianapolis to St. Louis. Participants in the World Race 2011 will have the opportunity to tour the Museum and take photos of thousands of pieces of automotive collectibles and memorabilia, as well as prototypes, racing cars and those featured in films.

MY Garage Museum is home to a bevy of Corvettes and Air-Cooled Volkswagens in Yager’s collection. The Museum showcases automobiles that car lovers would not be able to see up-close anywhere else. Between 20 and 25 cars are on display at any given time, with the specific display changing throughout the year.

Join Mid America Motorworks in welcoming the racers to Effingham and the MY Garage Museum. The Museum is open seven days a week. Visit us online at www.mygaragemuseum.com.
