Funfest for Air-Cooled VW 2016: Volkswagen Evolution

EFFINGHAM, Ill. - Feb. 3, 2016 - PRLog -- Effingham, Ill. – (February 03, 2016) – Funfest for Air-Cooled VW 2016 registration is now open, as Mid America Motorworks prepares to welcome thousands of Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled VWs, and their enthusiastic owners, to Effingham, Ill., June 3-5, 2016. Volkswagen Evolution is the theme, as the weekend celebrates the 70-year evolution of Volkswagens, from the company’s establishment in 1946, through the cultural movement of the iconic Beetle and Bus, all the way up to the Jetta, Passat and other VWs of today.

Funfest kicks off Friday with a Fun Run that leads to the annual Downtown Party, hosted by the Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau on the Effingham Square. The weekend culminates with the Saturday evening concert, where VW lovers are treated to headlining entertainment, rain or shine.

Participants enjoy a whirlwind weekend of special displays, car show, Swapfest, expert seminars, product demonstrations and more. Celebrity Choice Awards take place Friday and Saturday with a brand new presentation style that puts the lucky VW owner and his/her VW on display at the new Winners Wall. Camping, another Funfest tradition, is free on the grounds Thursday through Saturday nights to registered Funfest attendees.

Throughout the weekend, the MY Garage Museum & Retail Store will be open and available for self-guided tours. Movie Volkswagens from the Yager Family Collection, including the beloved Herbie cars, will be on display all weekend. The Fun Dome and Install Dome will both be full of activity, from the latest VW fashions and accessories in the Fun Dome, to the best performance and restoration upgrades in the Install Dome. Performance Choice will also be in the Install Dome with a wide variety of Volkswagen interior products.
