Follow on Google News | Local Businesses Tell Why Ventura County Is A Great Place to Do BusinessAs part of the Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County (WIB) employer outreach initiative, "Grow Your Business, Live Your Life," the WIB is inviting local businesses to share why Ventura County is a great place to locate a business.
By: Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County "Success stories on the 'Grow Your Business, Live Your Life' website will highlight the advantages of locating a business in Ventura County and provide insights into the challenges and paths to success of local employers,” says Cheryl Moore, WIB executive director. Some businesses have already offered their thoughts. "The local government's receptivity to locating businesses here is very strong," says Ross Dueber, president and CEO of ZPower Battery, a manufacturer of high performance rechargeable silver-zinc batteries headquartered in Camarillo. Dueber also noted the abundance of specialty suppliers in the area. "I'm pleased with the support infrastructure," For Rob Bushman, CEO and founder of Solarsilicon Recycling Services, the world leader in processing silicon waste for use by the solar industry, lifestyle played an important role in the company's decision to locate in Ventura County. "We could move somewhere else and get great incentive packages, but I don't want to live anywhere else," says Bushman, "Quality of life is everything, and Ventura County offers that." The Ventura County Grows Business initiative is a collaborative effort with county and city economic development managers and organizations. These stakeholders are working together to provide services and support that businesses need to thrive in Ventura County. "Ventura County has great business and government organizations that make local business retention and expansion their top priority," says Steve Kinney, president, Economic Development Corporation of Oxnard and WIB chair. "The Economic Development Collaborative –Ventura County, the Small Business Development Center, and the Ventura County Job & Career Centers are just a few that offer no-cost and low-cost professional services to support business growth. The Ventura County Grows Business initiative strives to attract businesses to the region to create jobs and also to nurture businesses that have made Ventura County their home.” Businesses can go to the "Grow Your Business, Live Your Life" website (http://venturacountygrowsbusiness.com/ # # # The Workforce Investment Board administers federal funds that help to support Job & Career Centers (JCC) and other adult, youth, and employer programs and services in Ventura County. With additional resources from the County of Ventura Human Services Agency, the JCCs provide employment assistance, career training and education services to job seekers, and employee recruitment, customized training and employer consulting to local businesses.
