The Montclair Art Museum Presents "Art in Bloom"

A Five-day Festival of Fine Art, Floral Displays, and Special Events—May 11–15. Plus: Warhol Wine Bar on June 3

April 15, 2011 - PRLog -- The Montclair Art Museum (MAM) will come alive in a burst of floral beauty for five glorious days in May. Between May 11–15, more than 2,500 visitors are expected to stroll through the galleries to experience Art in Bloom. This five-day biennial festival of fine art, extravagant floral displays, and special events has become a signature MAM celebration.
For this occasion, MAM invites floral designers to create an arrangement inspired by a work of art in our collection. This year, more than 40 floral designers from the tristate region will interpret 36 works of art from the Museum’s permanent holdings. These original fresh floral designs will transform the Museum into a fragrant oasis and inspire new ways of seeing the artwork in our galleries. It is a not-to-be-missed experience.
Galleries will be open noon– 5 p.m. May 11–15. Museum members receive complimentary admission; nonmembers will be charged a $12 admission fee. A lecture and luncheon, on Thursday, May 12, will feature a floral demonstration by Manhattan floral designers Brian Bowman and Dan Dahl. Art in Bloom events culminate on Sunday, May 14, with an Andy Warhol Factory Party gala, inspired by MAM’s exhibition Warhol and Cars: American Icons.
The Museum is particularly excited to be honoring two extraordinary women at our events: Helen Geyer is our luncheon honoree and Jacqueline McMullen will be honored at our gala. Both are longtime, civic-minded Montclair residents.
The co-chairs of Art in Bloom are Deborah Davis, Gretchen Prater, and Carol Wall. The honorary chair is Mary Mochary. Funds raised are used to support the Museum’s exhibitions and education programs.
The Museum is also pleased to announce its Warhol Wine Bar, to be held on Friday, June 3. This first-ever MAM wine tasting, presented by Montclair wine merchant Amanti Vino, will feature a variety of unique and specialty wines. Enjoy the vintages and explore our galleries, including our Warhol and Cars exhibition. Our front lawn will also be open for guests (weather permitting).
For information about tickets to the Art in Bloom luncheon and the Warhol Factory Party gala, as well as the Warhol Wine Bar, please call Jennifer Scallon, special events manager, at 973-259-5143. You may also visit the MAM website at http://montclairartmuseum.org/aib.
