Follow on Google News | New Blog Features Earth Day “Green” Give-Aways and Creates List of 1,000 Ways To Love The EarthA new blog created by three women artists shares great green activities, Earth Day music, posters and a variety of inspiring advice from everyday folks on “living green”.
Popular children’s performer, DARIA was one of the blog creators and she compiled six of her most popular songs and offers them free as a download plus all album, liner notes and activities are computer-viewable and in a “print if you must” format. Winner of six national awards for her educational and multicultural music, Daria wanted to share her music and her vision of a more balanced and harmonious planet by giving away her DARIA Sings For Earth Day cd as widely and as “greenly” as possible. Designing the blog artwork and a beautiful 2011 Earth Day poster is internationally known multicultural artist, Farah Aria. Based in California, Farah’s bright and beautiful art has been seen on the covers of major children’s publications and reflects a vision of a world that can truly celebrate diversity, live more simply and create peace. Creative design behind the blog and the social media campaign is graphic artist and illustrator Tracy Buscam. Tracy’ How has the blog done? During the first week kick-off the blog received a landslide of suggestions which are slowly being inputted. They included contributions from 17 different countries including Russia, Argentina, Bahamas, Hungary, Mexico, the Virgin Islands and all across the United States. The ways to love the Earth included serious suggestions about water and power conservation from places such as Pakistan and Jordan. They also included fun ways to reuse and recycle such as an amazing trash art contest at a Starbucks in Florida or an artist who turns vintage toilet tanks into flower planters and one Philadelphia based artist who turns phone books into striking large natural sculptures. Finally, the blog also has great suggestions from small children that include simple but practical advice such as turning off lights, planting a garden and “not squishing spiders”. Especially active during the week of Earth Day, 1,000 Ways To Love The Earth will keep collecting suggestions until the 1,000 mark and beyond as a means of inspiring others and sharing how it can be fulfilling, easy and fun to be green!
