April 20, 2011 - PRLog -- CHARLESTON, S.C.—Following the lead of the State of Texas in encouraging the use of electric vehicles for personal use, EVA Safety & Security is bringing its fleet of electric vehicles to the public service sector in Central Texas. The electric vehicles, which cost only $10 per month to maintain and require no petroleum gas, eliminate harmful tailpipe emissions and help reduce costs for public service agencies as gas prices approach $4/gallon.

EVA Safety & Security recently announced its first dealer in the state, Protective Technology Pro of Austins, following announcements of vendors in South Carolina and Kentucky. The company will host a demonstration of the electric cars during the Texas Police Chiefs Association conference in the parking lot of the Renaissance Austin Hotel, located at 9721 Arboretum Boulevard. On April 20 from 3-5 p.m., April 21 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and April 22 from 9 a.m.-Noon, cars will be available to test drive, and EVA and Protective Technology Pros representatives will be on hand to answer questions.

Protective Technology Pros, owned by former West Lake Hills Chief of Police Jim Burkey, provides a range of safety and surveillance products to public service agencies and commercial ventures. The company will sell the vehicles, as well as provide service and outfitting of any required security equipment. Visit www.ptpproducts.com for additional information. “With the governor recently announcing his full support for electric vehicles, the timing is perfect to introduce these vehicles, which can provide significant savings and improved efficiency, to the public safety industry,” says Burkey.

EVA Safety & Security, www.eva-safetyandsecurity.com, is a Charleston, S.C.-based company that is establishing the only professional sales and service network in the U.S. of electric vehicles for public service agencies. The company serves as a distribution channel between the manufacturer and the dealer, providing police, fire, safety and security firms with vehicles designed for a range of uses from mall security, university campus patrol, emergency transport, police patrol, etc.

"Texas is an incredibly forward-thinking electro-economy with charging stations for personal use already in place in cities like Austin and Dallas," says Al Fasola, CEO of EVA Safety & Security. "Now we are asking them to extend this progressive attitude to the public service sector and join in our commitment to offer electric solutions to the police, fire and security agencies seeking green, cost-effective innovation."
