By: ABG Realty Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, in collaboration with Quincy-Geneva CDC Project RIGHT, and other key stakeholders, is leading a broad community effort to promote comprehensive community revitalization in the Grove Hall neighborhood of Boston. In total, this effort will bring more than $70 million of investment in affordable housing, permanent job creation, job training and youth arts programming in the next 2-3 years. Grove Hall, which encompasses parts of Dorchester and Roxbury, has some of the highest poverty rates in Boston, including well over 40% unemployment. DBEDC’s Quincy Corridor focus area is located along a key east-west connector between Blue Hill Ave and Columbia Rd, @ 3/4 mile from the new Four Corners commuter rail station along the Fairmount rail line. The Quincy Corridor effort is part of the nationally-recognized Fairmount/Indigo Commuter Rail Initiative that is bringing more than $165 million of improvements to all 5 existing rail stations, creation of 4 new stations, and important transit equity initiatives to the Dorchester, Mattapan, and Hyde Park communities of Boston.
