It was a steal to say the least, its original owner had passed away recently and it was up for auction. Quite frankly not owning such a magnificent machine would have been Criminal! Bidding was tough but we had to have it, our toughest competition was from a German collector. Can you imagine the poor fellow being stuck in some private collection, you might have as well put it in Prison, or make it face a jail sentence then. Such a beauty has to be shared!

The Crossley 1916 is a classic car no question and being produced in 1916 it falls under the classification of “Antique Car” which applies to those wonderful automobiles that were manufactured at the conception of motorized travel up until the US involvement in the First World War in 1916. By that time, most car production was effectively stalled in Britain, Germany, France, Italy and the US, to allow for the manufacturing of military vehicles; often on the same factory production lines.

The Crossley was manufactured  by  Irish born William John Crossley who established Crossley Brothers with his elder brother, Frank in a factory at Great Marlborough Street, Manchester in 1867.
