Follow on Google News | Continuing the tradition of the Herm Edwards Football CampThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County Presents 1st Annual Ron Johnson-Anthony Toney FOOTBALL CAMP
By: Robert Mendoza Herm Edwards stated: “My increased commitments to my job at ESPN and my family, the time has come to turn the football camp over to the Boys & Girls Club. Being a former Boys Club member, this organization is near and dear to my heart. The Boys Club helped shape who I am today. Ron Johnson and Anthony Toney, former teammates of mine with the Philadelphia Eagles, both work for the Boys & Girls Club. They have volunteered their time coaching kids at my camp since the beginning. I am confident they will do an excellent job as they take over the camp.” Over the past 15 years, thousands of youth have participated in the Herm Edwards Football Camp and learned not just how to throw or catch a football, but also how to have a game plan for life. “I’m pleased that Ron and Anthony, with the Boys & Girls Club will keep the camp going. I know they will continue to provide a first class football camp that is free to all camp participants.” Camp dates are June 27-30, 2011 at Monterey Peninsula College. Space is limited to the first 500 youth aged 9-17, living in Monterey County. Registration forms are available online at www.bgcmc.org and at local youth centers. Camp expenses this year will total slightly over $8,000.
