Follow on Google News | Gentlemen Invited to Compete at Ladies’ DayGentlemen encouraged to join the ladies for an afternoon of summer jump racing at Newton Abbot Racecourse.
Over the years the annual fixture has become as synonymous with fashion and glamour as it is with racing, but this year the racecourse has gone the extra mile to ensure that the social highlight appeals as much to gentlemen as it does to ladies. This year, gents are invited to compete in the glamour stakes for the chance to be crowned the first Best Dressed Gent at Newton Abbot Racecourse. The new category has been added to the hugely-coveted Best Dressed and Best Hat awards. Several local businesses, including the new Hyundai Torbay dealership, Maggie & Co designer boutique, Andrew Hill Hair Salon, Daisy Cakes, Trugs floral designs and Torquay’s Princess Theatre have joined forces with the racecourse to offer some top prizes for the winners and runners-up in each of the three categories. Judges will be walking the course during the afternoon to select the finalists for the Best Dressed and Best Hat competitions. The finalists will be invited to the Parade Ring during the course of the afternoon where the eventual winners will be crowned. Pat Masterson, Managing Director at Newton Abbot Racecourse commented: “Ladies’ Day always proves popular with our customers and we hope that this year gentlemen feel even more welcome and really embrace the Ladies’ Day experience.” “We’ve been blessed with great weather so far this season and hopefully we will see a repeat of the glorious sunshine that we had at last year’s Ladies’ Day." “I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all of the businesses who have donated prizes for our Best Dressed competitions and for our charity raffle. These finishing touches are what help make Ladies’ Day one of the most popular fixtures of our season and, of course, help us to raise great sums of money for charity.” This year the racecourse has selected Marie Curie Cancer Care as their Ladies’ Day charity. Racegoers are asked to make a small donation to help support the work of this charity. Alongside collection boxes at the course, a charity raffle will also take place in the VIP Marquee. Course and Paddock Enclosure tickets are still available for the afternoon fixture. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.newtonabbotracing.com or by calling 01626 353 235. Alternatively, tickets will be available on the gate on Ladies’ Day. The first of the afternoon’s seven races starts at 2pm with gates opening 2.5 hours beforehand. Further information about Ladies’ Day can be found at www.newtonabbotracing.com or on the Racecourse’s Facebook page. # # # Actuate Marketing specialise in strategic planning, market research & marketing communications through the use of both traditional and new media platforms.
