Nancy Barnes, book designer and managing editor of Stories To Tell, explores the process of creating and self publishing a book as a guest of inspirational author and spiritual teacher Johnna Andrea Tuttle on the Celestial Living Podcast. The in-depth interview is available through Blogtalk radio at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/celestialliving/2011/04/07/celestial-living
“Writing a book is a journey,” said Barnes. Authors go through a six-step process in creating a book – imagine, plan, create, edit, design and publish. “A lot of people do the first three steps on their own. Many books never make it past that,” said Barnes. “At Stories To Tell we help people all the way through the process.”
Her conversation with Tuttle examines the ways an author benefits from working with an experienced editor throughout the process of creating a book.  Working with an editor an author can develop a strong organizational plan, focus ideas and convey them clearly and coherently. “What an editor does,” says Barnes, “is work with a manuscript to reshape it, revise it, rethink it, to make suggestions about how to improve it and ultimately to lock it down into the best form it can possibly be.”
Tuttle, who worked with Barnes to create her recently published book, Celestial Marriage, brings an author’s perspective to the conversation.
This is an interview that any author working on a book manuscript will want to hear.
