Ventura County Workforce Investment Board Reappoints Six to Board of Directors

May 24, 2011 - PRLog -- VENTURA, CALIF.-- The Workforce Investment Board (WIB) of Ventura County has announced the recent reappointment of six members by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.

   WIB members reappointed are Sarah Asbury, rehabilitation supervisor, Oxnard Branch, California Department of Rehabilitation; Teresa Johnson, director/principal, Ventura Adult & Continuing Education, Ventura Unified School District; Mary Navarro-Aldana, manager, Oxnard Workforce Services Office, California Employment Development Department; Leigh Nixon, president and CEO, Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce; Zahid Shah, president of United Shah Corporation and ZMS Enterprises; and Marilyn Valenzuela, executive secretary-treasurer, Tri-Counties Central Labor Council.

   "We are pleased that these active board members will continue to bring their valuable perspectives, experience and input to help support workforce development in Ventura County," says Steve Kinney, president, Economic Development Corporation of Oxnard and WIB chair.

   The six have committed to an additional two-year term on the board.

   "WIB-funded programs provide free resources and support to help job seekers and employers meet tough challenges a struggling economy," says Cheryl Moore, WIB executive director. "The continued dedication and professionalism of our board members is critical as we collaborate with others to build a strong workforce in Ventura County."

   Members of the WIB include leaders from business, economic development, education, labor, government and community-based organizations.
