Ventura County Fusion Announces Youth Soccer Camp Schedule for 2011 Summer Season

Region’s Only World-Class Soccer Franchise to Host Fun, Affordable Week-Long Camps For Children, Teens Interested in Learning Fundamentals and Enhancing Playing Skills

June 2, 2011 - PRLog -- VENTURA, Calif. — June 2, 2011 — The Ventura County Fusion (http://www.vcfusion.com), the region’s first and only world-class, championship-caliber soccer franchise, the 2010 Southwest Division title holder, and the 2009 champions of the Premier Development League (PDL), today announced its full schedule of week-long, multi-city youth soccer camps, featuring many of the PDL team’s players and top-level professional Fusion Academy coaches, to be held throughout the 2011 summer season. Open to children ages 5-16 of all experience levels, the Ventura County Fusion’s camp series provides players with unique, fun, and affordable opportunities to learn a broad range of ball-handling skills, fundamentals, and techniques in a positive and enjoyable environment.

Beginning with its first session on June 20, 2011, at Ventura Community Park in Ventura, each Fusion soccer camp runs for five consecutive days, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PDT, at a well-known school or park with high-quality facilities in select cities throughout the county. With advance registration, attendance cost, which includes all training, instruction, and a ticket to an upcoming Fusion home game, for most camps is just $99.00 per child. Camps in Thousand Oaks and Moorpark are $125.00 per child. On-site registration at each camp location is also available for an additional $25.00 fee. Each camp participant must bring his or her own water, snacks, shin guards, and soccer ball.

With specific focus on developing each child’s individual and team playing abilities, Fusion soccer camps are conducted by experienced coaches and player-instructors with advanced knowledge of the sport, and the proven ability to effectively mentor and train players of all ages and experience levels. As part of each camp’s intensive curriculum, attendees will learn such valuable handling skills and playing strategies as properly controlling the ball on the ground and in the air, including heading and receiving; how to pass, shoot, cross, attack, and defend using appropriate techniques; and executing different moves for beating and outmaneuvering opponents with and without the ball. In addition, campers will take part in a broad range of agility, fitness, explosion, footwork, and speed drills to improve overall dexterity and physical conditioning, and square off against others in one-on-one, two-on-two, three-on-three, and four-on-four side games and offensive and defensive scrimmages.

“The Ventura County Fusion’s annual youth soccer camp series is one of our most popular, well-attended instructional programs for children because of its affordability, and the vast amount of practical training the kids receive from our expert coaches in such a short period of time,” said Ranbir Shergill, general manager of the Ventura County Fusion. “More importantly, these camps are successful because they are fun and interactive for everyone, children, coaches, and player-instructors alike, and they truly create a rewarding experience for the campers that facilities growing and learning. It is our hope to expand the camp schedule next year with more sessions in other Ventura County cities as the sport continues to grow in popularity.”
