Follow on Google News | Landlords’ Day Returns To The RacesNewton Abbot Racecourse's Landlords' Day to be held on 14th June, the first evening fixture of the year.
On Tuesday the racecourse will play host to parties from as far and wide as Bridgwater and Plymouth. Amongst the crowd will be groups from the Wolborough Inn, Newton Abbot; The Silent Whistle, Ashburton; The Mountain Inn, Lutton and The Green Taverners from Plymouth. Alongside proving popular with landlords and their patrons last season, the scheme was highly commended in the horseracing industry’s inaugural ‘showcase and awards’. Patrick Masterson, Managing Director at Newton Abbot Racecourse. explains the Landlords’ Day idea: “We initially introduced the scheme to help support publicans who have been hit with dwindling customer numbers and closures.” “The aim was to help strengthen the relationship between landlords and their customers through an organised night out at the races. For those bringing a party of 25 people or more, they would also receive national brand exposure through a sponsored race named in their honour.” “We received such positive feedback from all involved last year that we have decided to run it again this year on two occasions: Tuesday 14th June and again later in the season on September 1st.” Aside from enjoying the evening’s racing from the Paddock Enclosure, the whole party will receive a race card, pasty and pint plus can enjoy live music on the Manicou Terrace from musical duo ‘Honey Soul’ following the evening’s racing. Matt Bailey, Landlord at the Par Inn who took part in last year’s Landlords’ Day summed up his Landlords’ Day experience: “It was just fantastic. It proved to be so popular with my customers that I had to secure extra tickets at the last minute. We arranged for a coach to take everyone to the racecourse and back and organised a band later in the evening at the pub. We were incredibly busy when we returned and all of my customers thoroughly enjoyed the day at the races. It was a brilliant day all around.” Applications for Tuesday’s Landlords’ Day have now closed however, those wishing to take part in the next day on September 1st are invited to contact Alex Penn at the racecourse on 01626 353 235. # # # Actuate Marketing specialise in strategic planning, market research & marketing communications through the use of both traditional and new media platforms.
