Midlands construction firm MCS completes £750,000 hospice project

June 17, 2011 - PRLog -- MCS, based in Claverdon near Warwick, has worked on the construction of Primrose Hospice’s new Family Support Centre in Bromsgrove for eight months and the facility is set to be opened by the independent charity in July.

The two-storey 4,500 sq ft detached building boasts offices, meeting rooms and therapy suites and will be used to provide patients and carers with adult and children family support, citizens advice, counselling and chaplaincy services.

It has been built on land next to Primrose Hospice’s existing building and St Godwalds Road and has cost around £925,000 in total, £760,000 of which has been funded with the support of grants.

MCS managing director Keir Edmonds said the new centre is a statement building which features sustainable green technology including a sedum planted roof.

“This is the first family support centre we have constructed and it must be one of the best care facilities in the region,” he said.

“We worked with the hospice to create a facility which would be fit to house the best possible care and support services available and we’re delighted with the end result.

“It is a fantastic new centre which will provide a comfortable environment for people across North Worcestershire living with life limiting illnesses using Primrose Hospice’s excellent support services.”

Primrose Hospice chief executive Alvin Robinson said its 60-strong team of staff and volunteers are looking forward to using the new centre.

“I believe we have the best model of support care in Worcestershire and our new centre will boost the superb service we offer families and their loved ones in a purpose designed and dignified environment,” he said.

“We’ve expanded our services massively over the last four years and creating a new centre to support this growth has been on our wish list for some time now.

“MCS has done a very good job and has been very professional throughout the project. The staff and our team of volunteers are all thrilled with the new facilities our patients and their families will be taking advantage of very soon.”
