Former Seattle Seahawk, Author and Corporate Senior VP To Deliver Keynote Address in Shreveport

June 20, 2011 - PRLog -- The African-American Chamber of Commerce of Shreveport-Bossier will host the 2011 Small Business Awards Luncheon on Thursday, July 14th, 2011.  The luncheon’s theme is “Going the Distance” and a portion of the proceeds will benefit local high school students through academic scholarships.  The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Downtown, 102 Lake Street in Shreveport. Tickets are $40 for individuals.

During the luncheon, the Chamber will recognize Business Man and Business Woman of the Year, Small Business of the Year as well as Business Advocate of the Year and Corporate Partner of the Year.

“The Chamber recognizes the hard work and dedication which all of our member businesses demonstrate but this luncheon will recognize those individuals who go the distance and surpass their peers through their business growth, personal success and community service,” says Booker White; Board Chairman. “We are thrilled to have a dynamic guest speaker with a demonstrated success record in the NFL as well as corporate America. We know that everyone will leave motivated and recharged.”

Jeffrey Reeves will be the keynote speaker. Mr. Reeves has more than twenty years of experience as an influential Senior Business Executive with four Fortune “100” organizations including Pepsi Cola, US West, Scott Paper Company, and Sam’s Club, a Division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Prior corporate experience also includes serving as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Hospital Division of Kindred Healthcare, Inc.  a healthcare services company based in Louisville, Kentucky, with annual revenues of over $4 billion and approximately 54,800 employees in 40 states.

Reeves is the author of “The Art of Branding Yourself”; a motivational career book which gives readers plenty of advice for creating a brand name for themselves and using positive personal attributes to bring success to a career or business enterprise. Reeves earned a B.A. and Masters degree from the University of Michigan where he was a three-year starter with the University of Michigan football team. Additionally, he played for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League for 4 years.

A reception and book signing for Mr. Reeves will be held Wednesday, July 13th from 6-8 p.m. at 4 J’s Java & More located at Texas Street in downtown Shreveport.
