The Hotel Inspector - Local website helps with Peak District Hotel TV makeover

June 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Couple Jane and David Bearder manage the Crown Inn, which is owned by Rita Williams.

A team of Peak District reporters acted as the ‘hotel inspection team’.  They were brought in to give their opinion on their respective rooms and on whether they would write up the hotel in their next publication issue.

Dina Holland, from accommodation software provider http://www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk, shared the role with Leslie and Steve Caddy from Pure Buxton Magazine and Mike Snow from the Chesterfield based magazine Reflections.

The ‘inspectors’ were filmed arriving at the hotel, checking in and being taken to their allotted rooms.

Dina Holland from www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk said, “The objective was for us, as the inspectors, to give our reaction to the rooms we stayed in and to confirm whether we would produce an article on the basis of our visit.”

“I was a little daunted to say the least“, said Dina, “I have spent many years connected with the media, but this has been the first time in front of the cameras for me”.

The programme makers wanted to help the hotel as much as possible and enlisted further help from the accommodation software provider www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk, based at Great Hucklow in the Peak District National Park.

James Dobson and partner Steve Wake quickly took the hotels original website in hand for a complete revamp.

“The site needed brightening up and we were more than happy to help”, commented James, who’s company now provides the same service to clients on a daily basis.  “Companies and especially hotels can’t afford to have their sites down for too long, in this case we completed the job within a two day deadline.”

The production team and Rita were delighted with the results, which is available at www.thecrowninn-higham.co.uk.

Once settled the inspectors enjoyed a meal and a nights entertainment including a quiz night before retiring to bed.  One of the rooms had been left untouched, whilst the other two were made over by Rita and expert Alexi Polizzi.

After a nights sleep and a hearty breakfast, each inspector had an opportunity to interview the owner Rita on their own.

The inspectors were treated to a buffet lunch and joined by 20 representatives from other Peak District businesses.  These included the Chesterfield and Peak District tourist Boards, The Dragon Balloon Company and  The Heights of Abraham Theme Park; each of whom were given a guided tour of the hotel and the made over rooms.

Finally, the inspectors subjected Rita together with managers Jane and David to a feedback session chaired by Alex Polizzi.  Rita commented that, “this has been a great experience and will really help to give our hotel a push”.

Dina Holland said, “We have been sworn to secrecy by the production crew so viewers will have to wait until August to find out the results”.
