June 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Last Month, Crystal Clear Publications and Author Crystal L. Bass launched “Precious Gems,” a campaign to encourage healthy communication between parents and children, reduce the rate of abuse and molestation of children, and promote high self-esteem and self-worth of young girls.

As a part of the Precious Gems campaign, Crystal Clear Publications initiated the Precious Gems Twitter chat that takes place each Tuesday on Twitter at 8pm EST. Last week’s topic was “The Importance of Healthy Parent-Child Communication.” The chat featured parents and experts including, Counseling Psychology student Crysta Tilghman @brains4days, Educator Victorious Hall @BroVictorious, Talent Agent Tristian Turner @TristianTLS, Model Coach Lana Rae @_LanaRae, Former Championship Boxer Isra Wynn @iGwynn, Publicist Tara Gates @FIREPRGROUP, and Media Personality Sherrella La Bella @SHERRELLA.

The hour-long chat included insight about the significance of healthy communication between parents and children and the role it has on making sure that kids remain safe from predators, child abuse, and other dangers.

Each of the participants offered good feedback on the topics:

“To maintain a good level of communication with my child, I make sure I’m up on her likes, toys, TV shows, etc.” – @TristianTLS

“I ask about my son’s day and I balance love, play, and discipline.” – @BroVictorious

“Even though my daughter is only seven months, I read to her religiously and pray with her before every meal and before bed.” – @SHERRELLA

“I talk to my daughters about everything and maintain some kind of friendship, but with limits!” - @iGwynn

“I have counseled young girls who say that their self-esteem is low because their parents do not say ‘I love you,’ enough.” - @brains4days

“With a child close to a teen, you have to remember to be open with them, but still maintain the parent-child relationship.” - @_LanaRae

This week’s Precious Gems chat will focus the role of media to instill self-worth in young girls, positive images and raise awareness on issues like abuse, child molestation, and bullying. Guests include Allyson Leake @SheBlogs, Sherrella La Bella @SHERRELLA, April Watts @WHWRocks, Amanda Fowlkes @OPENFLYMAG, Jeannie Jones @jkittyofthecity, Mia Hall @BmoreFab, Matia Johnson @dollhousemag, Adam Butler @mindstreamradio, Shavon Meyers @thebsideshow, Mia Jackson @sidelinepass, and Christie Ohh @christieohh.
