Follow on Google News | CTA Construction Starts New Science Wing at Weston MA High SchoolCTA Construction Co. Inc. has started construction of a new 27,000-square-foot addition to Weston High School in Weston, MA. The $9.3 million project will add state-of-the-art science labs and is being built to LEED Silver standards.
The 27,000-square- The wing and renovation, a $9.3 million project, will be built to the standards of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver level, a sustainable- βCTA Construction is pleased to partner with Weston to build a modern science wing that will enhance the quality of education. CTA brings a wealth of experience building schools and meeting LEED standards that ensure environmentally responsible construction practices,β said Davida Flynn, CTA's project manager for Weston High School. In February, Waltham-based CTA completed construction of the new public works facility in Weston, a complex 16-month project that included two new buildings, an operations courtyard, a fueling station, exterior material storage bins and covered storage areas. The Weston High School project will be completed in three phases, starting with construction of as much of the new addition as possible during the summer months. The second phase will be completing the addition during the school year with disruptions minimized by keeping construction activity within the new wing. The addition is scheduled for completion in June 2012. Renovation of the existing space β the third phase - will take place during the summer of 2012 and the entire facility is scheduled for use by fall of 2012. Also included in this project, CTA is installing a fire sprinkler system throughout the entire high school this summer.
