UK Drivers Must Unite to end Cameron's 'War on the driver'. Says drivers' group.

David Cameron promised UK's 30 million drivers to: 'End the War on The Motorist' prior to his election to No 10. But, so far, official policy is stepping up the 'war' on all fronts so drivers need to unite and show they are a power in the economy.

July 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Drivers' Protest Union is calling for drivers to act now against Cameron's broken promises.

'Before David Cameron came to power, UK's drivers had every reason to be hopeful. Promising to 'End the War on the Motorist' they expected a massive relaxation of rules and regulations that do little more than feed the massive and insatiable Road Safety Industry's gobbling up of billions of their hard earned pounds.

Hampered and obstructed mercilessly, prosecuted in their thousands whilst driving perfectly safely, taxed and imprisoned and yes even dying because good effective sensible road safety policy is shunned in favour of the more profitable kind, there was much that Cameron could have done to reverse all this and help the economy while doing so.' Say D.P.U.

'It seems the Road Safety Industry is too big and powerful for Cameron and so the oppression of a massive voting block of 30 Million drivers and those who depend on them continues apace.

Rooky MP Karl Turner's Bill to imprison drivers for seven years based purely on the inexpert perception of hostile witnesses, no accident or injury, just someones perception, get's Cameron's full support. But the current tariff of two years, was set when all sentencing was higher than today and must have been deemed adequate then so why, when all other jail terms are being reduced or cancelled, does Cameron justify an increase of five years for drivers?' Keith Peat, an ex speed cop and group's founder asks: 'Why do we jail people who simply had an accident anyway? Tobacco kills fifty six times more people than those on the road but we don't jail tobacconists do we? How does Cameron justify his support for taking a breadwinner from a family for an accident let alone no accident at all?'

D.P.U says that: 'Mike Penning, Cameron's Roads Minister, is now eager to allow inexpert councillors  impose 20 MPH limit zones in their Towns. Do these politicians, many of them socialists, not realise that over-slowing of road transport costs the nation £3 billion for each one mile an hour per year-about £30 billion a year in total? How many hospitals and scanners could we have for that sort of money? What of the loss of jobs and the cost in benefit payments never mind the massive insurance premiums imposed on their constituents?' They ask.

This is not about road safety. It's driven by a liberal green agenda: 'To get people from their cars'. Alleged Road Safety Charity BRAKE's aim is to stop drivers and 'get them from their cars' too. BRAKE is one of many anti car- no doubt they would deny that- charities, supported by the Road Safety Industry profiteers with driver's cash. In effect the circle of feeding and reward is self perpetuating and most of these billions can easily be shown to stop not one single accident. The driver is even paying for the Industry to feed the charities who then demand more spent in the Industry and at driver's expense. Cosy.' Says D.P.U.

They continue: 'Penning also wants Careless Driving, the third most serious driving offence, to be prosecuted by fixed penalty ticket. Even though accidents are at an all time low, "not enough drivers are being prosecuted for careless" he has said.

We all know how speeding tickets are run on a coercive basis to encourage drivers to plead guilty. Expensive courses are even offered instead. The scheme, set up by the Ltd Company ACPO -yes ACPO is a Limited Company and has offshoot Ltd Companies making money from drivers- is of dubious legality. Either an offence is disclosed or not. Is there a statute that allows the offence to be ignored on paying for a course? Some of these courses are run by other Limited companies too. But do they tell their students that 'speeding', the reason they are there, cannot cause an accident or that speed cameras do not see accident causes either? So are these courses fraudulent exploitation? Already Penning is talking about such corrective courses for careless driving after no trial whatsoever. What will be the penalty for pleading not guilty to such a ticket?'  ''What next? Fixed penalty for armed robbery?' Asks Keith Peat.

The group points out that  a group of MP's are now demanding that motorists pay for public transport by further taxation. Not withstanding that the UK driver is paying about £60 billion a year in driver taxes already and this is rising rapidly anyway, these MPs, also, with the aim to: 'Get people out of their cars', are really serious. 'They just don't get it' says Keith Peat. 'The economy is based on 30 million drivers driving and public transport can never replace that. In fact public transport depends on the private motorist to make all the links and connections to it. They must think that trains, planes, and buses take us everywhere we need to go. They would if we lived in airports, railway stations of bus termini but we don't.' he says.

D.P.U are also spotlighting the endless charities, NGOs, Parliamentary lobby groups, partnerships all speaking for the Road Safety Industry at drivers' expense.

Even royalty, in the person of His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent assists and encourages the greedy industry with his patronage and award schemes. 'Why award and reward people who are making lots of money from claimed road safety? How can a royal support the prosecution, loss of livelihood,  family or marriage of perfectly safe drivers when the focus should always be more on true altruistic road safety than vast profit? Why should there be financial reward and profit from road safety anyway? This is bound to lead to vested interest and unworthy or invalid schemes surely?' Say the group.

'Is it any wonder then that Cameron is failing in his promise? The UK driver is up against massive power, money and influence. Without UK's 30 million drivers the economy would collapse over night, so they can change all of this but must unite to make it happen. They must get Cameron's attention and shame the profiteers of bogus road safety' says the Drivers' Protest Union.
