Follow on Google News | Boys & Girls Clubs Of Monterey County Produces 400 New Entrepreneurs, Addresses Learning SlideSpecial summer programming teaches youth to learn what it is like to have your own business. BGCMC Club Members launch their new companies tomorrow!!
During this summer program, special emphasis was placed on engaging youth in activities to help them gain knowledge and skills related to developing their best selves, learning about financial literacy, career exploration and entrepreneurship. Over 400 future entrepreneurs, ages 6-15, have benefited from this summer program, aptly named CEO2B! In the past 7 weeks of the program, members have learned how to identify & produce a product, conduct market research, develop advertising and promotional materials, set price points, and TOMORROW they finally open up for business and get to sell their product to the public. August 2 and August 3, BGCMC kids from our 6-8 year old classes will be opening their Lemonade Stands in both Salinas and Seaside. The kids are supported in their efforts by Northridge Mall and PetSmart in Sand City with “prime real estate” to learn the final lesson in the curriculum … real sales! The public is encouraged to come out and support the next business leaders in Monterey County. With Clubhouses in Seaside and Salinas, BGCMC provides youth between the ages of 6-18 an afterschool safe haven where they are mentored to achieve academic success, acquire healthy habits, and develop good character and citizenship. Over 95% of the total budget comes from generous individuals, corporations and foundations. The Clubs are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. during summer and school breaks, and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. when school is in session.
