Thompson announced that in his role as CTO, Mr. Schultz will lead the development of new products, bringing new expertise to Oberon as well as an undivided focus to the evolving needs of the networking industry. He brings over 30 years of experience in the communications and semiconductor industry and is a named inventor on more than 10 granted or pending patents. Schultz received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 1981, and has been a member of the College of Engineering Industrial and Professional Advisory Council since 2006. Schultz most recently served as President and CEO of Indian River Silicon of Melbourne, Florida. Indian River Silicon developed System on Chip solutions for the 802.11 WLAN and Bluetooth markets, using advanced CMOS implementations. Prior to Indian River Silicon, he was the Vice President of Engineering at Conexant Systems, Inc. Wireless Networking Group, located in Melbourne, Florida. He was responsible for RF, mixed signal, and digital IC design, hardware development, FW development, and product/test engineering of 802.11 WLAN chipsets. He also founded Integrated RF Solutions, Inc. in 1994, and successfully grew that business which resulted in an acquisition by Globespan Viratra in 2003. He has been involved with the 802.11 WLAN market from its inception, and led the development of the first commercially available application specific chipset for this market.
