Raleigh International Church Sends Missions Team to Alabama

Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, NC  – On Sunday, July 31, the Raleigh International Church (RIC) Missions Team headed to Madison, Alabama for the week to assist local families in their efforts to rebuild homes and lives after the devastating impact from the recent tornado damage that occurred in April.

“We are excited to be able to assist others. We have been given so much and we feel that we should do more good and share with all, especially with those that are the household of faith, says Elder Kerry Carrouthers, RIC Missions Team Ministry Leader.

Marc Hunter, one of the RIC Missions team members, felt extreme honor after having a conversation with the family’s grandson.  “I feel privileged to have assisted Mr. Calvin. After we said we where we were from, his grandson said to us in astonishment, ‘You came ALL the way from North Carolina to help us? You being here makes us feel like everything is ok in the world.’”

In addition to the recent Alabama tornado relief project, RIC has participated in evangelistic events and projects such as Passage Home, Convoy of Hope, RIC Hope Connection, mission trips to Nicaragua, El Salvador, and India, amongst many others. RIC was also awarded “Church of the Week” on the 700 Club for its evangelistic efforts in the community.

“Our church has always believed that service has to be done both inside and outside of the local membership,” says Pastor Olden Thornton of RIC. “RIC has always been a proponent of giving and we sent a dynamic team of members to Alabama to extend a small expression of God’s love through service.”
