Atlanta Urban League Young Professionals Dream Catchers Honors Key Stakeholders in Atlanta

Aug. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- On Friday, August 12, 2011, the Atlanta Urban League Young Professionals (AULYP) will host its annual signature awards gala, Dream Catchers. The event, which is designed to honor local community leaders who exemplify excellence in serving their community and high school seniors who demonstrate excellence in academics, will take place at the Bill Lowe Gallery (1555 Peachtree Street #100, Atlanta). Nina Brown (WXIA-TV 11 Alive on air talent) will serve as the mistress ceremonies for the occasion.  

This year’s honorees represent key stakeholders in the Atlanta community who were identified based on their work in areas relevant to AULYP’s empowerment initiatives: education, economic growth, health and quality of life, civic engagement and leadership, and civil rights and racial justice. 2011 honorees include:

-Sporty Girls, Inc. (Rashan Ali): Dream Catchers Award
-Justin Tanner (National Co Chair for Generation 44): Political Advocate Award
-The Atlanta Mission: Community Advocate Award
-Suntrust Bank: Corporate Advocate Award

During the event scholarships will be presented to five graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence and a strong commitment to service and the AULYP’s empowerment initiatives. In addition honoring men and women of excellence, guests will have the opportunity to mingle, enjoy the sounds of live music, and take in the ambiance and art at the Bill Lowe Gallery.

Tickets are $35 in advance ( http://dream2011.eventbrite.com/) and $45 at the door.  A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the AULYP Scholarship Program which provides high school seniors with scholarships toward their collegiate education.
