The Sanders Firm, P.C. Announces Civil Rights Lawsuit Filed Against the NYPD

Aug. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- A second amended civil rights complaint alleging that female recruits are treated differently in the Police Academy as well as during the psychological screening and retention process, also known as “gender discrimination,” has been filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.  

Former recruit alleges that female recruits were ordered to clean because "females have that special touch." Meanwhile, the male recruits were not held to the same standard.  During the psychological screening process females recruits are held to a different standard than the male recruits. There are no procedural safeguards in place to ensure that psychological reviews are free from bias.
