Follow on Google News | Free Family Night at Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey CountyFree Family Night at Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County Back to School Night!
This Family Night focuses on how to help our youth return to school prepared for success. To set an example of the importance of healthy eating habits that fuel our Club Members for the busy school day, breakfast will be served instead of dinner to highlight what educators know is the “most important meal of the day” for active student participation. To underscore the importance of serving a nutritious breakfast at home, Club Members and their families will take a “Family Breakfast Pledge” and bring home a Certificate as a reminder to practice healthy eating habits daily. There will be a discussion on BGCMC’s “Great Readers” program, and BGCMC’s Promise Neighborhood efforts to obtain more resources to support the family’s success. Both events will start at 6:00 p.m., end at 8:00 p.m. and serve a healthy meal to all participants. Local businesses and community partners such as: Pacific Coast Dental Group, Strengthening Families Program, California Youth Outreach, The RISE Program and others will share their information. In addition to a healthy meal served, there will be family fun games, activities and prizes. As children across America prepare for the upcoming school year, this kick off event serves as a reminder of the widening gap between the millions of youth who graduate from high school and their at-risk peers who don’t.
