Nontando, operating since 2003 and specializing in African Art, Gifts and Decor introduces food line

Aug. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- In early August 2011, Nontando opened its first grocery product line which has been coupled with its existing product lines as part of its day to day retail operations.

"Since our retail opening in 2003 we have focussed primarly on hard goods and we have been wanting to diversify with such a product offering for a number of years now," Gary Stern, (Owner of Nontando) said. "This will be something very new for many of our customers but they will be pleasantly suprised to discover how these exotic food items which many of them have had no exposure too before can form wonderful and healthy supplements to their daily nourishment".

"We will be initially focussing on South African cuisine and condiments which is often a  unique blend of recipes and flavors derived from many different cultures that colonized South Africa. This fusion of Dutch, Malay, Indian, British, Mediterranean, and African cookery make up what we now call South African food", Stern continues.

Nontando will carry a variety of different spiced chutneys and cooking sauces, the world famous Rooibos Tea, a herbal tea which has become popular in Western countries, particularly among health-conscious consumers, due to its high level of antioxidants, its lack of caffeine, and its low tannin levels, hot sauces from the heartland of Southern Africa which have a strong peri peri (chili pepper) influence, appetizers made from pickled green papaya and can also be used as a side dish for a variety of grilled foods, a spicy African vegetable relish known as Chakalaka which is traditionally served with bread, stews or curries.  

"We will be adding to this line soon with some additional exotic cuisine ideas which we believe will lend a unique and distinctive flavor to a variety of western dishes and are endlessly customizable", Stern says.
