September events in Barcelona

Aug. 31, 2011 - PRLog -- 11th September- La Diada. National Day of Catalonia. Year after year, Catalan people remember the defeat on 11th September 1714 in the Siege of Barcelona during the War of the Spanish Succession. There are several activities in Barcelona and all over Catalonia to celebrated their identity and show their pride for being Catalan. Singing the national anthem “Els segadors” is one of the most moving things to do on that special day full of demonstrations and concerts. The most important concerts take place at the Park de la Ciutadella.  

22nd to 25th September- Festes de la Mercè. A week to celebrate the national festival of Barcelona in honour to its patroness the Virgin of La Mercè. There will be activities of all types such as concerts theatre, fairs, parades, sardanas and castellers. It joins tradition with modern genres of art. Adults and children can have fun in the streets and squares of Barcelona and participate in this great festival.

22nd to 25th September – BAM. Festival of independent music of the city of Barcelona. On  its 18th edition, this music festival included in the Festes de la Mercè will have the participation of more than 50 music bands.
