Follow on Google News | ROLL UP,ROLL UP:A Traffic Stopping Fashion Circus kicks off Oxford Street's High Street Fashion WeekAt 7am this morning, Monday 5 September Oxford Circus came to a standstill as the iconic landmark was transformed into a spectacular circus-themed fashion shoot to launch Oxford Street’s High Street Fashion Week presented by Metro.
By: Katie Blake http://youtu.be/ Jace Tyrrell, Director at New West End Company and Founder of Oxford Street’s High Street Fashion Week, commented: “This is exactly what High Street Fashion Week is all about – making fashion fun, creative and accessible – and putting on a show. With 2 million shoppers expected to flood through the doors of Oxford Street’s flagships spending up to £200 million in this week alone, the fashion circus certainly kicks the new season off with a bang.” Trained Acrobat, Sophie Page-Hall, one of ten performers involved in the High Street Fashion Week Circus, and who has previously performed for the Royals at Buckingham Palace, commented: “The stylish, tailored outfits and four inch heels were quite a change for most of us but the true challenge was performing in the middle of Oxford Circus, surrounded by traffic and commuters. We all got into the swing of it and it was a truly fantastic, fashion experience!” Harold Tillman, CBE, Chairman of the British Fashion Council, says: “The British high street is one of the strongest internationally, offering unrivalled range and diversity when it comes to fashion. Oxford Street is at the heart of London’s retail district and, with LFW starting next week, High Street Fashion Week provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate the fashion talent that makes Britain’s fashion retail industry so successful.” Hannah Jones, who works in the West End and was in the front row at the Fashion Circus, said: "I was certainly not expecting to see a live fashion inspired circus in the middle of Oxford Street when I set off to work this morning! The styling and make-up really made the show come alive and it’s a great way to introduce the new season fashions to the high street.” The fashion inspired circus kicks off a jam-packed week which will see 33 high street retailers including Selfridges, Topshop, M&S, River Island, John Lewis, Debenhams and House of Fraser hosting a calendar of fashion-filled events and promotions. Shoppers will be treated to exclusive celebrity parties, must have promotions, style tutorials and exclusive offers on new season collections. The week is a truly accessible fashion calendar, the people’s prelude to industry led London Fashion Week.
