Sept. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- A CCTV monitor is an essential component of any CCTV system and as such those looking to buy one should think long and hard about the monitor that they buy. It is obvious to everyone now that an LCD CCTV monitor is the best way to go, but there are still questions that need answering when deciding which monitor is best for you. So, what are the different considerations that you should take into account when looking for a LCD CCTV monitor?

The first thing to take into account is size and the general rule is that the bigger the better. This obviously depends of course on the resolution of the screen as well – something that we will get onto later on in the article. While a larger screen is usually preferable, it is obvious though that many people do not have the room to accommodate a massive CCTV monitor in their home. This means that it is an entirely personal decision when deciding which CCTV monitor to buy – although try to make more room for the CCTV monitor if possible; there must be something that you can lose form the desk!

Now when it comes to clothes, people are seen as vain if they constantly buy brand name items. This is not the case when it comes to CCTV monitors though, as the ones made by the better known companies are generally of a better quality. There is a reason why they have got to the top of the tree and this is the fact that they are good; therefore, try to go with the brand names, even if they do cost slightly more than the lesser known brands. At the end of the day, if a cheap monitor fails after a few months, you will only need to go and buy another, therefore meaning that it was a waste of money.

The resolution of the CCTV monitor is also very important, and resolutions vary dramatically between different monitors as well. In layman’s terms, the resolution refers to the clarity of the picture, which is affected by the amount of pixels that the screen has. Essentially, the more pixels, the higher the resolution and the higher the resolution, the better the CCTV monitor will be. When considering this, you need to strike a balance between clarity and cost, as the higher the resolution, the more expensive the monitor will be.

The final factor to consider is that of audio, although some people won’t need this as their cameras won’t offer this functionality. For those that want to use their cameras to listen as well as watch though, the ability to play the sound is obviously extremely important! It might come as a surprise to learn that many CCTV monitors don’t come with speakers and that therefore separate speakers need to be bought – something that not only adds more clutter to a desk, but that also costs more money. It is far better to spend a little more money on a CCTV monitor with speakers and not have to worry about buying any extra additions.
