The institute has concluded three early-stage clinical trials using potatoes bearing vaccines against hepatitis B, E. coli and the Norwalk Virus. Similarly, researchers at Japan's National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences continue to develop an edible vaccine produced in genetically modified rice.
