The Boys and Girls Club of Lake County, IL near Chicago launches Annual Giving Campaign!

Sept. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Every day, thousands of children in Lake County, Illinois, live in poverty and attend class in  failing schools. They are under tremendous peer pressure to make the wrong choices.  The Boys and Girls Club of Lake County is on a mission to give these kids the foundation to succeed when the odds are stacked against them.  On their own, kids are choosing to follow a better path by going to the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County.

The Boys & Girls Club of Lake County (BGCLC) recently announced the launch of their 2011 Annual Campaign, “Great Futures Start HERE”, with a goal of $100,000.  BGCLC has a total of seven sites; three stand-alone and four school based sites, between North Chicago, Waukegan, and Zion, Illinois. A successful campaign will allow BGCLC to continue the good work they do, giving at risk kids a positive place to learn and grow.  

BGCLC provides quality developmental programs that empower Lake County youth to become productive individuals, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances. Club kids face hunger, homelessness, poverty, inequality, racism and violence. Club staff are in some cases, the most influential and positive adult role models in their lives. The club delivers thousands of homework help hours and tutoring/mentoring throughout the school year and is a safe alternative to gangs and other negative influences.

Proving their success, Arlene, the “Youth of the Year” for the local Club commented,

“From the first day I became a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County, I knew there was a new beginning headed my way. Without the Club, I would not be where I am today, a State of Illinois Youth of the Year finalist, a high school graduate, college freshman and full time employee.”

The Chronicle of Philanthropy recently ranked the Boys & Girls Clubs of America as No. 1 among youth organizations for the 17th consecutive year for its efficient use of financial resources and No. 15 among all non-profit organizations. Forbes, SmartMoney, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, and Worth have all ranked Boys & Girls Clubs among the top charitable organizations in America based on cost effective use of donor dollars.
