His Company Brings Art To Life at First Presbyterian Church - Sept. 24 and 25

Sept. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- First Presbyterian Church, Lakeland presents "All We Need is Love," a production of the FPC Drama Ministry, HIS Company, on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Loudon Fellowship Hall, 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland.  Tickets are $10 and available at http://www.fpclakeland.org, at the First Presbyterian Church office and at the door.  Admission includes gourmet refreshments.

"All We Need is Love" is a living art show revealing various manifestations of love in imaginative contexts.  Gourmet refreshments are included with admission.

"The audience will be enjoying an exhibition of masterworks one at a time," states the show Director, Amber Grubb.  "Suddenly each painting will become animated as actors demonstrate love in its varied contexts:  affection, friendship, romance, and charity."

Conceived by members of HIS Company, this production is a compilation of excerpts from numerous sources including “Valley of Vision” a book of Puritan prayers, Henry James' "Portrait of a Lady," Robert Fulghum’s "It Was On Fire When I Lay Down On It” and others.  J. Lenora Bresler, Amber Grubb, Dick Huggins and Traci Staton have contributed original works.

"We think love is always a good thing, but like anything God has created, man can abuse it if he tries to manipulate it in a time and way not originally designed," actress J. Lenora Bresler, explains.  "Our show reveals both sides of love and their theological and earthly consequences."

Actors include representatives from various churches throughout the community.  Alison Crane, Ed Frisbie, Morgan Macey, Traci Staton, Sydney Prewitt, Chloe Prewitt, Colton Gilbert, Joseph Steinbauer, J. Lenora Bresler, Renee Hawk, Richard Huggins, John Durbin, Bob Macey, Makayla Morgan, Emily Matteson, Tori Meadows, and Kelsey Anne Smith perform with HIS Company.  Featured guest performer, Joe Gavin, will play guitar before and during the show.  Florida Dance Theatre Associate Artistic Director Freddie DeJesus choreographs  “But Beautiful” for FDT dancers, Stefan Dolbashian and Mai Okubo.

A drama ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland, HIS Company is an ecumenical acting troupe presenting productions dealing with moral issues in terms of faith and life.  Their mission is to offer substance, entertainment, and a Christian worldview of the human condition.
