Attorney Harvetta Strozier Colvin is running for Shreveport City Court Judge, Division “D”

Sept. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- With more than 23 years relevant experience, Harvetta Colvin is well qualified for this position. In fact, she has served on the Shreveport City Court, by Louisiana Supreme Court appointment, in the interim position of Judge Pro Tempore. Most recently employed as an assistant attorney general in the Louisiana Department of Justice litigation division, Colvin has held other key positions of public service. These include Caddo Parish Assistant District Attorney where Colvin sought justice for victims; and Louisiana Child Support Enforcement Attorney where Colvin sought to establish paternity and child support orders.  Colvin has also served as Judicial Administrator at the Juvenile Court for Caddo Parish, and Senior Judicial Law Clerk at the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Harevtta Colvin is a graduate of Captain Shreve High School, Stanford University, and Tulane Law School, and is currently a candidate for a masters degree in Judicial Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno. She is a former chair of the Caddo Parish Indigent Defender Board where she worked to ensure protection of defendants’ rights; former vice president of the Sci-Port board where she helped get Sci-Port started; and former secretary on the Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners board.

Mrs.Colvin is also a graduate of Leadership Shreveport/Bossier and is an active member of Trinity Baptist Church where she serves as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher. A member of the Holt Family, Harvetta Colvin is the daughter of the late Rev. Harvey S. Strozier and the late Mrs. Jeanette Marie Holt.
