Follow on Google News | Books-A-Million and Early Learning Coalition Team Up for Literacy BuddiesBooks-A-Million and the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida have teamed up to host a fundraiser and book drive on November 21st benefiting the Literacy Buddies program.
By: Samantha Scott Already registered Literacy Buddies should take their invitation or letter from their buddy to the store. At check out 10% of their sale will be donated to the Literacy Buddy Program. Books-A-Million will also be conducting a book drive. Anyone who purchases a book and donates it to the Literacy Buddy Program at the register will be eligible for a drawing for several door prizes. ABOUT THE LITERACY BUDDIES PROGRAM In existence for four years, the purpose of Literacy Buddies is to help young, pre-elementary school aged children develop and excel in literacy. The purpose is to teach children about correspondence, communication and instill appreciation of reading. Literacy Buddies has direct, measurable results. In nearly every case the child’s communication skills are positively impacted and visible via letters and verbal communication changes. For some of children, this provides the only opportunity to have books of their own at home.
