Avon Lady Steps Out On Her 1,000th Round On Avon’s 125 Year Birthday

Sept. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- One of Avon’s leading ladies, Amanda Garrett, today celebrates her 1,000th round, as the global beauty giant celebrates its 125th anniversary.  In 16 years of running her own Avon business, Amanda estimates she has sold over 2,500 lipsticks and 1,500 bottles of perfume, covering almost 7,000 miles to deliver brochures and products to her customers, friends, family and neighbours.  Collectively her team of 1,600 Representatives has sold around one million mascaras and 500,000 lipsticks.  

19 year old Avon Representative and student, Lauren Moulsley also stepped out today to deliver Avon brochures around her campus at Bournemouth University.  Read by six million women every three weeks in the UK, it is thought that the Avon brochure is now the most widely read publication in the world.  

Amanda and Lauren are two of 6.5 million independent Avon Representatives, selling over 3.5 billion products a year to 300 million customers in over 100 countries around the world.  Globally Avon Representatives earn $4.5 billion a year; this is bigger than the profits of global giants Walt Disney, Nokia and Nike.

Today marks the day that David H. McConnell founded the pioneering beauty company in New York in 1886. What started 125 years ago with a simple line of five floral fragrances has grown to be the world’s largest direct seller, and Avon now creates and evaluates nearly 1,000 cosmetic, fragrance and toiletry products every year.

Amanda comments: “When I started my Avon business in 1995, I never dreamed it would go on to be the success it has become today!  Avon has given me the perfect work life balance, and I love the social aspect of it.  I’ve met so many inspirational women on my rounds, many of which I now consider close friends - I’ve even skipped breakfast today as so many of my customers have promised me birthday cake in celebration of Avon Founders Day!”
